Beautiful Songs
Beautiful songs inspire us and lull us to drift away into a magic wonderland of our own imagination. Such music is some of the precious things ever made by mankind.
In this post, I share my list of the most beautiful music that is true nourishment for your soul.
The Most Beautiful Song Of All – Moon River by Henri Mancini
This song is a true classic. It was featured in the Movie Breakfast At Tiffany’s and first performed by Audrey Hepburn.
This song feels like a love song, but it’s actually a song about being loyal to your own sense of wonder and adventure.
I’ve been a fan of Audrey Hepburn so much that I wrote my own love song to her. Here is a link to my song about a crush on Audrey Hepburn.
Tied With Moon River For The Most Beautiful Song Ever: Landslide by Fleetwood Mac
This is a truly emotional song that does something magical to me every time I listen to it. It’s a song about growing up. It’s to the singer’s father. Maybe the fact that it’s about a very real and common family dynamic that is easy to identify with is why this song is so emotional.
Third Most Beautiful Song: Sound Of Silence by Simon And Garfunkel
The simple yet magical guitar riff to open the song creates a enchanting feel for this song, and the sincere vocal performances really carry the song, creating a feeling that something really meaningful is being discussed, and this song might make a difference.
Fourth Most Beautiful Song: Unchained Melody by Righteous Brothers
This song features romantic lyrics and beautiful high male voices that make this song very unique. The way this song is very legato – meaning that every line is sung out in a very lengthy manner. This has the effect of having the listener hang on to the vocals and emotionally connecting with this song.
Honorable Mention: Oh Michelangelo by Alex Genadinik
This song features some of the most poetic and beautiful lyrics. It reimagines the famous painting Birth of Adam by Michelangelo into a romantic touch. Here is an example of a verse from this song:
My fingers gliding along your silhouette.
You’re breathing with me – our souls have met.
Our eyes close as my fingers track
New Sistine Chapels along your back.

Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin
This is one of the most recognized songs of the 20th century. It uses a beautiful metaphor of a stairway to heaven that is at the same time easy to visualize while being fragile and breakable, which drives the idea of this song home better than any literal explanation.
Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door by Bob Dylan
This song only has 6 lines, but they flow. It’s a song about dying, which isn’t the most beautiful subject, but it’s done very beautifully. After all, art is a matter of how, not what.
Yesterday by The Beatles
There is something in the melancholy of this song that inspires truly beautiful kind of an empathy with the singer, causing enjoyable cathartic feelings. And the vocal performance of the legato and relatively high male vocal performance truly works to make this song beautiful and emotional. It’s a song with a lot of meaning.
While My Guitar Gently Weeps by The Beetles
The Beatles wrote many beautiful songs, so I wanted to have two of their songs in this list. I love this song because it sounds like it’s crying while singing about the weeping guitar – what a beautiful space this song creates.
Another Honorable Mention: What Was It For by Alex Genadinik
This song has a pretty metaphor of being in gentle love as floating down a river stream in a gentle boat. Of course, when does love ever stay that way. There is a breakup that leaves the hero of the song on a lonely shore, turning this into more of a sad song. The song itself is performed gently as though it was a gentle stream itself.

If You’re Going To San Francisco by Scott McKenzie
This is a beautiful ode to what San Francisco once was – an absolutely free and creative place of love. And this song embodies the innocense and a sense of potential that going to San Francisco used to represent.
Cover Of A Beautiful Foreign Song: Vineyards of Love
I translated this poetic and soulful love song into English. It was one of the most popular and beautiful Russian songs of the 20th century. If you like sad and melancholy love songs, here is my full blog post with a collection of sad love songs.
Candle In The Wind by Elton John
The original version of this song was already beautiful, but when Elton John changed this song to become a tribute to Lady Diana, it elevated this song to one of the most beautiful songs of all time.

Forever Young by Bob Dylan
The melody of this song or the vocal performance aren’t on the level of many of the other classic beautiful songs, but the idea of this song is really beautiful. Bob Dylan isn’t a great vocalist in a classical sense, but he is able to communicate so much in his own style that the words really make their way in your heart and soul.
Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler
The imagery and metaphor of this song are really beautiful and easy to picture and feel for.
Sometimes When We Touch by Dan Hill
It’s just a sincere and well-performed song with very romantic lyrics.
Whiter Shade Of Pale By Procol Harum
This is a beautiful and just a perfect sounding song.
Memories From The Musical Cats
The way this song is usually performed combined with the topic of the song is incredibly nostalgic and beautiful. It’s an emotional song. It’s a great musical experience every time.
